Identification Basics
Proper identification is required by Florida Statutes Chapter 117 for all Florida notary acts. A valid driver's license or government-issued, photo identification card are acceptable. In addition, a passport issued by the U.S. Department of State is acceptable as is a passport issued by a foreign government if the document is stamped by the U.S. Immigration and Naturalization Service. A complete list of acceptable identification can be found here.If there are any questions regarding the acceptability of your identification for the purpose of notarization, please address these questions when you call to schedule your appointment for notarization or when a representative calls to confirm your order. This will prevent unnecessary trips where an acceptable form of identification is not available.
